Black Garlic and Brown Butter Wings

Super bowl weekend has come and gone and I am finally get to share my recipe for the wings I made. When I envisioned this, I never imagined they would be this special. Brown butter is a good way to elevate any recipe but the black garlic addition was magical.

You do not need a lot to make this and this is a perfect appetizer for any gathering. You will need some wings, black garlic powder, onion powder and smoked paprika. The wings are marinated in the spice mix overnight, then baked and tossed with some black garlic and brown butter.

Black Garlic and Brown Butter Wings

Oven baked wings tossed in black garlic and brown butter.

  • 2 lbs wings
  • 3-4 tbsp black garlic powder
  • ½ tbsp onion powder
  • ½ tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1½ tbsp butter
  1. For best results and flavor, marinate the wings overnight. Add the wings to a mixing bowl, then season with salt and pepper, onion powder, smoked paprika and 2 tbsp. of the black garlic. Refrigerate overnight.

  2. Preheat the oven to 450°. Place a grid baking rack over a cookie sheet to help air circulate and get the bottom crispy. Place the wings on the rack leaving enough room between each wing. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes flipping halfway.

  3. Make the brown butter half way from the wings being done. Place the butter in a small skillet and heat over medium high heat for about 8 minutes. Once it melts leave it but watch as it will begin to change color and start to smell nutty. Once you get that slight brown color, remove the skillet from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes. Once the wings are done, add them to a bowl, add the remaining black garlic to the brown butter and immediately pour into the bowl with the wings. Toss, serve and enjoy!
